Weddings
Did you know that you can have the wedding of your dreams?
Increasing numbers of people are choosing Independant Celebrants such as myself, to create and conduct their marriage. I can offer you your perfect ceremony, created uniquely for you and with you so that you can show your love for each other in exactly the way you wish!
What is a Celebrant?
Why choose a Celebrant?
How does it work?
What does a Celebrant do?
- Personally written vows
- Poems, either sourced or personally written
- Beautiful, creative unity rituals, such as handfasting, flower ceremonies, unity candles, sand rituals and more
- Favourite pieces of music, either recorded or performed live
- Your own personal creative ideas – the possibilities are endless!
Who chooses a Celebrant?
Any couple wishing to marry and experience the joy of a personalised bespoke ceremony, following the fulfilment of the legal requirements (see above) may choose to use the services of a Celebrant. Couples in the following situations are equally eligible:
Couples who marry abroad
Some couples decide to marry abroad with a small wedding party, later choosing to gather family and friends together for a reception shortly after their return home. This is a perfect opportunity for extended family and friends to enjoy a re-enactment of the wedding ceremony. If this is your choice, I can offer a full ceremony or a simple shortened version. Whatever you choose you can be sure that it will be very beautiful and meaningful.
Renewals of vows
Growing numbers of couples are choosing to renew their original wedding vows, whether this be for a significant wedding anniversary, or owing to a specific personal life situation, such as one of the following:
Perhaps your first ceremony was forced by financial or other constraints to be less than your ideal dream.
Or maybe you look back and realize that you were young and immature and now want to fully participate in a new commitment to each other.
Perhaps you’ve had a tough relationship and want a new start.
Or maybe one of you has tragically become ill and renewing your vows to each other feels important.
Whatever your personal purpose, a renewal of vows ceremony can be a profoundly significant milestone in a couple’s life. It can be created as a full wedding re-enactment or simply a small, private re- commitment ceremony. As with a wedding, the choice is yours and I can assist with or fully create and conduct your perfect ceremony.
Civil Partnerships
Increasing numbers of couples are choosing to formalise their mutual commitment with a Civil Partnership Ceremony, although you are free to call it whatever you choose. As with a wedding, it is simple to complete the legal formalities in a Registrar’s office prior to the day of the ceremony (see above). This then leaves you free to enjoy a beautiful bespoke ceremony of your choice at your perfect location.
Divorced Couples
Surprisingly to some people, increasing numbers of individuals and couples are using the services of a Celebrant to mark their divorce as a significant rite of passage. I can help you to respectfully honour the gifts of learning (however painful) you have received from your marriage and to profoundly accept your current situation by crossing your threshold of individuality. This can lead you into a new, transformed phase of your life journey.
This type of ceremony may not suit everyone but for those who feel called to it, it can be life transforming and deeply healing. My many years of experience in counselling and psychotherapy, coupled with a deep understanding of the power of creative and symbolic rituals are of particular significance here.
I assure you of a warm, professional response to your enquiry.
